Riverside is situated in the small hamlet of Westport mid way between Langport
and Ilminster and about half an hour's drive from the county town of Taunton.
It makes an ideal base for touring, visiting the many places of interest in the
area.
Yeovilton's
Fleet Air museum, where the prototype of Concorde is housed with
many more famous and interesting displays. Cricket St.Thomas, originally
made famous by the TV series "To The Manor Born", and more recently
as a Wildlife Park is near. In the locality are several National
Trust Properties, famous for their architecture and gardens with
Barrington Court less than 2 miles away, Montacute House and Forde
Abbey also near.
The Roman Town of Bath and the recently extended
Clarks Village make interesting and worthwhile day trips. For those
interested in wildlife the Sedgemoor Lowlands and Wetlands offer
a wonderful opportunity to view the many species of birds that make
this rare environment their natural habitat. The River Parrett at
Langport is an ideal place for the keen fisherman or to discover
the Parrett landscape.
Along the South Coast is Lyme Regis with it's
harbour and Cobb as seen in the film "The French Lieutenant Woman" or
West Bay where the filming of "Heart Beat" took place. Plus various
other fishing and beach resorts.

Closer to home, just opposite the cottage, explore the droves or wander
along the canal bank, with cycle hire and planned routes available at Langport.
And within a couple 100 yards is the "Old Barn Owl", the local, which has
an excellent reputation for food and proved a very popular haunt for many
visitors in previous years.
